2nd set was one of the first dead tapes I ever had that wasnt a commercial release.. wore that shit out..

I never knew it was the supposed "worst" show ever until the internet was born..

grains of salt should be provided when this show is talked about..

I'd vote Highgate '95 as one of the worst shows ever. Many of the same issues, trade elevation for hordes of gate crashers and Garcia literally dying on stage. Fun Times U.S.A.

Not to mention it's one of the rare shows where the Dead busted out the always painful, bad idea...Rollin' and Tumblin'. Every version sounds like cats humping due to Jerry's vocals. Just listened to that again and got me thoroughly depressed.

Was 23 feet from JG at Highgate and 'twas painful to watch (I mean Phil took a phone call onstage during the beginning of one tune fer Christ's sake), but Jerry WAS trying to get off the Persian (imo) and that AIN'T easy. He coulda cancelled a year of touring to do it. Although that may've been the best thing to do, he was up there for us...warts and all. Anyhoo, I actually like Boreal Ridge.

Highgate '94 was fun. Really liked Yassou N'Dour. Beautiful day and night. About half the people as '95. I remember me and me sweetie easily wandering around. A few songs by GD too, J/S, and LIG. Boy that UJB is the most f'ed up song I heard them play. Check out UJB from Deer Creek (7-20-94). Compare and contrast.
